Quilting Cruise to the Bahamas in February 2011!

Quilt Among Friends is traveling to the Bahamas in 2011 with an exciting new cruise itinerary! We'll sail out of Galveston, TX on the spectacular Carnival Conquest. We will be visiting two of most beautiful ports of call in the Caribbean:  Nassau and Freeport!

Formal classes will be held during two "at sea" days with open sew time every evening and all day Saturday. Roses of Remembrance Block of the Month Begins January 2011

Over 850 blocks were submitted by consumers for the 2009 Rose of Sharon Block Challenge, sponsored by Sharon Pederson, Island Batik, and other companies. Twelve finalists were chosen, and made into this awe-inspiring quilt with a particularly meaningful connection. This stunning project is called “Roses of Remembrance” because the designers made the project into an opportunity to share their connection with Alzheimer's and for the partner companies to support the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative (AAQI) in the fight against Alzheimer's. Now you can make your very own heirloom thru the Roses of Remembrance Block of the Month with Quilt Among Friends.

• The Roses of Remembrance quilt from the Rose of Sharon Project is a 13 month BOM which will begin in January 2011.  During this 13-month program, you will receive the fabric for each of the blocks, sashing, borders and binding to complete the quilt top. 
• You will have several options for appliqué (edge-turned, fused, embroidery machine appliqué or hand appliqué) 
• 21 fabrics from Island Batik have been selected for this quilt, and will be available for the duration of the BOM program 
• The  Rose of Sharon DVD or the Rose of Sharon Block Book are required and not included with the BoM.  The DVD includes quilt-as-you-go designs.  Both the book and DVD are sold seperately. 
•  You must see the quilt back!   Aurifil Threads has put together a beautiful collection of 12 matching threads just for this project.  A Quilt- As- You-Go" method finishes the blocks making your quilt back as spectacular as the front.
